The Dreamer's Curse is well written and keeps the reader's interest all of the way through. I did have a few issues with the book. Although this is a complete story in itself, you really have to read the first book before reading this one, in order to know who the characters are and understand some of the back story. The main characters are developed in the first book and the author does not spend any time introducing them again in the second book. She doesn't even give any definition of what an Artifactor is until chapter 14. My biggest gripe with the story has to do with Sevana's moral compass. In the first story, she let the wizard, who caused the trouble, get away. I could accept that, because they were more interested in who had hired him. In this story, she doesn't really try to catch who stole the artifact, despite all of the trouble and deaths caused by this wizard. This person really deserved to be caught and punished. It would have made the story longer and better, as well. I would recommend this book, but only if you read The Child Prince, first.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.probably because we already know how awesome Sevana isBy CustomerI really feel that this is more of a 3.7. Somehow it didn't have as big as an impact as the first book, probably because we already know how awesome Sevana is, but somehow, even though the problem is supposed to be very hard and difficult, it seemed to be solved pretty easily, just more of a hassle. Perhaps this book is supposed to be an intro to the next book, as we didn't learn who really stole the artifact, but just like the first book, there is no head-on fights. I liked that this book connected with the previous one, with her connection with the "Child Prince" still strong, and that they brought up the Faes again, but I still feel like there's something missing. By the way, I love Jensen, Jacen, Jaston, and Jocelin (especially Jocelin, I wonder what happened between him and Sarsen *laughs). Overall, the story was pretty normal, problem easily solved, not much out of the ordinary happened, and the characters: I still love(pffftt-the huggging disease, Bel probably got it from the villagers of Sa Kao and passed it along to everyone else).1 of 1 people found the following review helpful.Truly inspiringBy CustomerThis book series has the potential and promise to become a bestseller. It combines a genius character with challenges and adventures that engage the reader while avoid tired tried and true scripts.I liked the first one a little bit more because there were multiple perspectives, and I liked the sentient mountain, clever lion, the mentoring of the Prince, and the portal clocks. Ser got out for more of an adventure, with plenty of inventions and good characters in this second book, so this is just me being nit-picky. I really want to read the next adventure to come.See all 39 customer reviews...
